The Announcement.

It is with great pleasure that I am announcing that Monkly Business is now operating under new Management. Yantis of www.mysupersales.com, a large fan of EQ and of the monk class, is taking over the operation of the site and the maintenance of the community with my blessing.

He is taking over complete financial, technical and administrative control of the site and the boards. I will remain a reporter for the site and a moderator for the boards, but I will be taking a back seat to his new leadership. Yantis' first act as new site owner was to pay over $3600 and purchase gold status for the messageboards for the next 15 months.

Very little will change. The look and feel of the site remains, the same staff remains. There will be a small indicator of who the site owner/sponsor is, and that is all.

Monkly-Business has gone a long way since I had the idea of putting up a site to go along with a new monk community after the fall of 'The Dojo' 25 months ago, it has gone from a one man operation with a few thrown together pages to what is debatably the largest Everquest class site on the web with so much information that I had to build it round a database to hold it all and add 5 site reporters to help with the updates. The result is that for the month of October the main site and the message boards between them had over 2.5 million page views (over 80,000 per DAY).

I leave that legacy to Yantis, knowing that he intends and hopes to take it on to even greater heights.

Zadkiel.

EZ-Board pop-up CEO chimes in...

This is why we are going to have to probably shut off advertising sponsored boards.

Each page view is paid for by us. It costs us real money to host these sites. If you think $3600.00 a year is a lot to host this community, I *BEG* you to go try and do it yourself. Your time and money committment will be far greater than the $300 per month we're charging.

ezboard is probably going to move to GOLD only and ezSupporter only boards... it is the only way we can survive and prosper. There is a viscious cycle happening right now.. people use pop up stoppers which leads to us putting more pop up ads, which leads to more people using pop up stoppers..

We are at the point where we feel if a person isn't willing to support their community at $1 per month, then that community needs to exist elsewhere b/c frankly, we can't continue to provide service under those conditions.

I applaud Zadkiel for being smart and making a business arrangement to keep this board gold. It is so easy for people to criticize when they know nothing about the time committment and effort it takes to run a community like this.

Stop the hate and support each other - it makes life so much more fun if you focus on the positive rather than the negative.

Comment: He (Vanchau) sounds like he's okay with this theft of Copy righted material thing, then again he sells pop-up ad. space....

/ Three top tier guilds exploit and are not banned - Wednesday, November 20, 2002 - D 0ne

It's Sad Really...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Expansion after expansion after expansion after expansion we just keep kicking ass.

See folks, it doesn't matter if every developer that is currently working at SoE hates us. It doesn't matter that a few guilds suck so much developer cock that they actually have a mainline of all the backdoor info they need to get to the Plane of Time and back.

None of this matters to the Fires of Heaven. We don't need l33t beta infoz. We have been giving you guys the straight shit on our boards for years. We don't sugar coat our topics in hopes of not offending some candy ass egomaniac that thinks his shit don't stink. We'll tell you straight up - XXX SUCKS, YOU SUCK, FIX IT. 99.9% of the time, we're right.

Now despite the horrible fucking job most of the beta testers did testing, the team of Devs actually pullled off a pretty fucking awesome expansion. Note I say - IN SPITE OF THE SHIT TESTING.

Can You Believe It?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm getting badmouthed on the super top secret elite beta boards by Afterlife, Eternal Wraith, and Keepers of the Faith members because I pointed out a blatant bug that disallowed them from access to Sol Ro's tower :( I cried myself through this entire update.

No actually I laughed a whole lot, fuck the three of you - second rate bitches.

To The Developers - Read This and Fix Please
2002-11-15 17:19:26 - Furor Planedefiler

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't often use the front page to directly address the developers and designers in this manner but something has come up within the game recently that has to be fixed IMMEDIATELY.

Please take note of what I say and take appropriate action.

Starting in the Plane of Tranquility, there is an NPC standing outside of the Plane of Disease named Adler Fuirstel. He asks that you help out him and his brother. The first step of this quest is to get a character flag from Adler and then enter PoD and kill Grummus.

Once Grummus is dead, you hail the planar projection and receive another character flag to enter the Crypt of Decay where the storyline progresses.

Going back to the Elder's Hut, you speak with Adler's injured brother, Elder Fuirstel. He thanks you for killing Grummus but requests that you kill Bertoxxulous so that his curse may be lifted. You receive another character flag at this point.

Within the same hut is Fahlia Shadyglade and Tylis Newleaf. If you speak with Fahlia after you have killed Grummus and hailed Elder Fuirstel for the character flag, she tells you that until you kill Bertoxxulous and help Elder Fuirstel she will not speak further to you in regards to helping the injured Tylis.

Everything is working fine up until this portion. Here is the major problem/bug.

Right now, anybody that has killed Terris Thule and has access to the Plane of Torment can collect the necessary keys in Torment required to get into Saryrn's tower and kill both the Keeper of Sorrows (to free Tyris) and then Saryrn (to complete the Cipher of Druzzil). THEY DO NOT NEED TO KILL BERTOXXULOUS.

The planar projections that spawn after the Keeper of Sorrows and Saryrn are giving people that have never killed Bertoxxulous and never gotten the quest to even save Tyris, CHARACTER FLAGS. These character flags allow people to Complete the Cipher of Druzzil and via a few more small tasks enter the Tower of Solusek Ro. Essentially, completely bypassing the most difficult part of the entire quest - killing Bertoxxulous.

What should have happened is the Planar Projections spawning after Keeper of Sorrows and Saryrn should give their hailers NO CHARACTER flags until Bertoxxuluos is dead. Currently they are giving those flags negating Bertoxxulous entirely.

I reccommend either perma-killing Saryrn and the Keeper of Sorrows on all servers until you resolve this matter, unless you want 50,000 people that would never even have a prayer of getting to the Tower of Solusek Ro invading a zone they have no business being in.

Without Fahlia's quest to save Tylis NO CHARACTER FLAGS are supposed to be given to those killing the Keeper of Sorrows and Saryrn.

FIX this before more unscrupulous guilds invade Sol Ro's tower.

And to those guilds sitting in Sol Ro's tower right now - you basically completely exploited your way through an entire tier - congratulations.
