29 April 08 - 07:04Almost any Computer Savy User Had Access to Your Vista System, Now the police do too.

Slashdot | Microsoft Helps Police Crack Your Computer
"Microsoft has developed a small plug-in device that investigators can use to quickly extract forensic data from computers that "may have been used in crimes." It basically bypasses all of the Windows security (decrypting passwords, etc.) in order to eliminate all that pesky privacy when the police have physical access to your computer. Just one more reason not to run Windows on your computer."

21 April 08 - 02:46Square Pegs in Round Holes Vista is Still Terrible

Techtree.com India > News > Software > Vista is a Work in Progress, Says Ballmer
Possibly the hottest topic for a couple of days to come... That Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer famously called the much-hyped Microsoft Windows Vista a "Work in Progress" at Microsoft's Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) conference in Seattle last week. As Ballmer said during the conference, "there's still work to be done on Vista: a very important piece of work, and I think we did a lot of things right, and I think we have a lot of things we need to learn from," promptly adding, "Vista is bigger than XP. It's going to stay bigger than XP." As if he needed to convince himself... Just about a month back, Microsoft released Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) to fix a number of issues said to plague the one-year old operating system. Ballmer's statement is bound to draw a mixed response; it may soothe some frayed nerves only on account of being upfront yet it is unlikely to erase the general dissatisfaction with Vista. As Ballmer said at the conference, "Microsoft has been working on some essential steps for Windows Vista, nevertheless, the most important thing will still remain customer feedback: Top of mind for me, for Ray [Ozzie], for the senior team here, is making sure that we continue to drive forward and take the good work that we did in Vista, take the chance for improvement and progress, and drive forward." Although it's strange for one of the world's biggest companies to release one of its biggest products and then call it a "Work in Progress" a year down the line; strange -- yes, but not surprising. The Seattle conference had about 1,800 Microsoft MVPs from across the globe; MVPs is a name given by Microsoft to technology experts who provide feedback to the company about its products. "There are still a lot of customers using Windows XP, and at the same time, there are a lot of customers who opted for Windows Vista. As long as those are both important options, we will be sensitive and we will listen and we will hear that," said Ballmer at the conference -- about the so-called trade-off between two of the company's most iconic products.

14 April 08 - 11:04Blizzard beheads yet another peasant for the mob...

WoW Forums -> Lost epic flying skill
I hope this clears up any confusion or frustration you may have about this situation, the only thing I have left is that I would like to take this time to remind you of our stance on Defrauding or Attempting to Defraud a GM, Kiranth. Whenever possible, we try to give players the benefit of the doubt in questionable situations. We honestly hope players do not attempt to take advantage of this trust, and provide their full cooperation. However, if we later find that an attempt was made to defraud a GM, the offending player may have action taken against them. Attempts to defraud a GM include, but are not limited to, misdirecting a GM's attention, withholding information, providing false information, and any attempt to "trick" a GM.

God love them and to think people actually pay these mother fuckers $15.00 a month for this.

    12 April 08 - 12:26Blizzard get a clue!

A Letter To Blizzard: STOP WASTING | C.K.E.S.K.
I’m concerned about the environmental impact of the game card packaging. It’s obviously excessive waste for its internal contents. I can’t even imagine how it would be the most cost effective option. There must be alternative methods to package the card using fewer resources at comparable costs to existing practices. This should also, theoretically, cut down on shipping costs to get the product to stores as they would take up less space during transportation.

Pa. girl hit with game controller dies - Yahoo! News
Johnson, 26, acknowledged beating the girl with a video game controller but did not say why, police said. Baez said Johnson had abused the girl in the past and that she heard the girl scream after Johnson beat her Sunday, according to the affidavit.
